Visiting the Costa del Sol in autumn

 Tags: Leisure

Blessed with fantastic weather all year round, the Costa del Sol invites visitors to discover its wonders in the autumn. The mild temperatures encourage promenading on the beach in coastal Málaga or hiking in the countryside. Places to spend the night range from traditional farmhouses to sixteenth-century convents, and you can have lunch in picturesque eateries housed in, say, mills.

In Serranía de Ronda, you can follow in the footsteps of legendary bandits like Tragabuches, Pasos Largos or El Tempranillo. For your bandolero experience to be complete, stay in an inn Alameda and let the smells of traditional dishes wrap you up.

In autumn, you can do wonderful things in Málaga. For instance, you can eat in a rehabilitated train station in Sierra de Grazalema or stay in a country house near Los Alcornocales Nature Park. And you can leave stress behind as you take a bath in the river Guadiaro or do yoga en plein air.

Experiences off the beaten track

If you are a horse lover, you can go horse riding in Sierra de Mijas or learn about horse breeding in a ranch in Cañete La Real. The trail network in Málaga takes you to such beautiful places as the Genal valley on the back of a horse.

If you are interested in the healing properties of water, you should head for Tolox or Carratraca, whose spa at the foot of Sierra de las Nieves and hot springs are available for your wellbeing.

Tours in Málaga

The Sun and Wine Tour unveils several sides of Málaga in autumn. Beginning in the cliffs and beaches on the eastern Costa del Sol, it climbs up the sierras in Axarquía, taking visitors across the vineyards to white farmhouses and haciendas where they have been making artisan sweet wine since the days of the Romans.

The Raisin Tour also runs from the coastline to the sierras, going into Montes de Málaga Nature Park. It will take you back in time, to long-established wineries and charming farmhouses and country hotels organising a wide range of activities, from gourmet experiences to walking tours amidst ancient trees.

Most of the quaint villages perched on the mountains have kept their Islamic heritage unspoilt. They are the main attraction on the Mudejar Tour and the Route of Olive Oil. Get seduced by the spell of Al-Andalus as you pick the traces of these villages’ Arab past.
