Malaga will host the nation’s top athletes for the 36th National Sports Press Gala (AEPD - Spanish Association of Sports Journalists). The event will take place on 7 March. In addition, from 7 to 9 March, Malaga will host the 53rd edition of the National Sports Press Conference and expects over 200 professionals from all over the country. It is one of the most traditional events that the AEPD organises annually. In fact, this gala brings together the most honoured athletes from the whole country in the previous year.
The Costa del Sol has the facilities to host large events and conferences such as this gala, which will even be broadcast on TVE and Teledeporte. This event moves between cities each year and after being held in Santander and Murcia, Malaga's Fair and Conference Centre was chosen for the next edition. Up to 1,000 can attend.
The AEPD will choose approximately 20 athletes, the most decorated in 2015, to be awarded for becoming athletic hallmarks in Europe and worldwide, as well as those who have given Spanish sports prominence every four years at the Olympics. All will be invited to the event in the Costa del Sol.
Likewise, the Autonomous Government of Andalusia will prepare special prizes for sports medicine and Spanish sports legends, including a prize given to the Royal Andalusian Football Federation (Real Federación Andaluza de Fútbol), which is celebrating its 100th anniversary and will be featured as the conclusion to the events at the National Sports Gala.
As a part of the gala, Malaga will host the 53rd National Sports Press Conference, where over 200 professionals from the media will discuss sports information and related topics. An important event on the national conference calendar comes to Malaga.
