Studying in Málaga? See what we have to offer

Are you planning to study in Málaga? Do you want to learn Spanish on the Costa del Sol? Congratulations! You are coming to a place with great weather, kind people and lots of cultural and entertainment activities. Learn about the things you can do in Málaga in this post.

Shopping

Awesome shopping centres. Exclusive luxury shops. Traditional street markets. Everything is right here, on the Costa del Sol. There are more than 30 shopping centres in Málaga, as well as smaller, traditional shops selling handmade artisan items.

Culture

Málaga boasts a rich cultural life, brimming with theatres – the Cervantes and the Echegaray being the most important – concert halls and museums – Centre Pompidou, Auto Museum, Centre for Contemporary Art, Picasso Málaga, Thyssen Málaga, Revello de Toro… If you are a culture vulture, in Málaga there are things for you to do all year round.

Sights

Both the Romans and the Arabs (who ruled Andalusia for eight centuries) left their marks on Málaga City. Some of their constructions have come down to us. The Roman Theatre, for instance, built by Julius Caesar, is in the heart of town and open to visitors. It lies at the foot of the Arab Fortress. The contrast between these two buildings and their architectural styles make the city look like a melting pot where the history of Spain is somehow condensed.

Beaches

A 161km coastline is a long coastline indeed. There are lots of Mediterranean beaches to enjoy. And to make it even better, Málaga has more than 300 sunny days a year and an average temperature of 19ºC. The Costa del Sol stretches from Manilva, bordering on Cádiz to the west, to Nerja, on the border with Granada to the east.

Mountains

If you would rather be in contact with nature, you should better head for hinterland Málaga. Both the regions of Serranía de Ronda and Axarquía offer mountainous settings to enjoy for kilometres on end. In the highest peaks you can even get snow to have fun in winter! In some towns, like Estepona, Mijas or Málaga, you can have it both ways, for they feature both: beach and mountains, so you could stand by the sea and stare at it from up high a few minutes later.

Active travel

Are you a mountain goat or a cave explorer? In Málaga, everything is possible. You can do all kinds of water sports (sailing, scuba diving, etc.), go hiking or mountain climbing… You can even engage in crazy paintball wars with your friends. If you are in for something less hectic, try a hot-air balloon flight and take a bird’s-eye view of the province.

There are dozens of things to do and enjoy. Welcome to Málaga Province and the Costa del Sol!
