Sabor a Málaga, the taste of quality

 Tags: Culture

Taste is certainly one thing that characterises the Spanish province of Málaga: the taste of its fantastic  cuisine, which is based on high quality products with first-rate raw materials. In order to promote these products the brand Sabor a Málaga (Taste of Málaga) was established three years ago, a unique project which brings together more than 300 manufacturers, stores, restaurants, hotels, gourmet shops and distribution chains.

The geographical diversity of the province of Málaga means that there is a wide variety of food and agricultural products. Extra virgin olive oils, honeys, citrus fruits, craft beers, confectionery, wines, subtropical fruits, raisins, dried fruits and cheeses. There are also livestock products such as those originating from Iberian pigs, the Málaga goat and cattle. Furthermore, the Costa del Sol boasts five fishing ports catching more than a hundred different species on a yearly basis. Thanks to all the above, there are products with a taste of Málaga for all tastes, moods and occasions.

With 38 products, the wine and alcoholic beverages section is the largest. In addition to the long history of wine production in the Spanish province of Málaga, it continues to grow year after year, with new products which go far beyond the traditional sweet wines. Here you will find wineries such as the Bodega Málaga Virgen, in Fuente de Piedra; the Bodega Morosanto, in Ronda; and Bodegas El Placer, in Mijas. Along with the wines, it is also worth trying the liqueurs of Málaga and the increasing number of craft beers.

Other extensive sections include that of baked goods and confectionery, with 28 excellent brands; the extra virgin olive oil section (including a total of 25 with the Sabor a Málaga hallmark); and that of cheeses, dairy products and eggs.

Furthermore, Sabor a Málaga brings together hotels and restaurants. They include the El Pimpi bodega, an emblem of the capital, decorated in the characteristic style of Málaga, which boasts a terrace with fantastic views of the Roman Theatre and of the Alcazaba de Málaga. In Álora you will find the Los Conejitos Restaurant, a building surrounded by olive trees which offers different rooms and areas to celebrate all types of events and an à la carte restaurant with a climate-controlled wine cellar, along with gardens, fountains and waterfalls, playgrounds and marquees. Among the many options is the La Garganta, resort in El Chorro, which has a wide and varied offer of gastronomy with top-quality local products, in a spectacular location opposite the Caminito del Rey.
