Plans for enjoying the November bank holiday weekend in Málaga

 Tags: Leisure

Málaga offers a perfect blend of sea and mountains. Leisure possibilities are endless if you take into account that almost anything is possible in this Spanish province. Discover the best activities for friends, couples, families or singles and do something different this November bank holiday weekend. The Costa del Sol awaits you!

Carmen Thyssen Art Museum

Throughout November the Carmen Thyssen Museum has a collection of 20th Century posters and illustrations on display. Thanks to the "Carteles de Artista" (Artists' posters) exhibition, you can learn about the origins of modern advertising posters and how art adapted and evolved according to society at the time. You can see work by artists such as Touluse-Lautrec and Jeff Jones, among others.

Closer to the stars

Pass a winter afternoon in a privileged location. The Yunquera Astronomy Observatory opens its doors to fun sessions for the whole family on Saturday afternoons. Discover the stars and the universe at the Yunquera Tower: an historical monument from which you will be able to observe the planets, galaxies, constellations and nebulae.

Typical cuisine

On a cold day there is nothing better to warm you up than a delicious "plato de los montes" (mountain dish). Egg, chorizo, chips, pork loin, peppers and migas (a dish based on fried breadcrumbs) together in one delicious dish. Can you eat it all?

In Genalguacil and nearby villages All Saints Day is celebrated with a traditional "tostón" (chestnut roasting). This date sees locals taking to the fields to collect chestnuts which are later roasted on the village square and eaten with mistela, a liqueur made with spirits, toasted almond and coffee.

A bit of theatre

If you want to see a unique and unforgettable performance, you can see the show Jamming on 30 October at La Cochera Cabaret. Jamming is an improvised performance in which the audience is an active and essential part for the development of the event. It starts off from titles written by the public, and from there, the actors invent and act out a series of improvisations in keeping with certain styles.

Routes in Málaga

You can also do something different to discover the city: a Segway route through the old town. It is an active and fun way to spend time with family or friends.

For those of you who prefer a more relaxed activity, we suggest a themed route such as "Málaga: a movie city". A guided tour through Málaga's old town covering the most important historic and tourist spots of this Spanish city in a unique way: visiting places which have been used as the scene of international films starring actors such as Anthony Quinn, Alain Delon, Claudia Cardinale, Rachel Welch, Sean Connery, George C. Scott and Robert de Niro.

Do you have any other fun plans? What do you have planned for the November bank holiday?
