Málaga capital best beaches

 Tags: SUN & BEACH

If you are at the Costa del Sol capital, you would like to have a bath and you don't want to drive... Don't worry! You can also enjoy the best urban beaches, with easy access and a wide variety of services, at Málaga capital. Enjoy a bath just few metres away from the historical centre.

La Malagueta beach

The Málaga's most famous beach is so called because of the quartier where it is located, just few metres away from the historical centre! There were industrial works here in the 19th century (shipyards, a beet factory, wineries...) until the Hospital Hoble and the Bull ring were built, what impelled the change of the quartier.

Pedregalejo beach

If you step on its sand keep in mind that it is the oldest beach in Málaga! Located at an old fishermen quartier, it has an extension of 1,200 metres long, separated into six small bays by rock breakwaters. It is called ‘la olla del Melillero’ by the locals, since the sea level raises every time a ferry coming from Melilla to Málaga harbour goes near there. Be careful with your towel and belongings!

Other important attraction here are the chiringuitos, located at the sea promenade, where the specialities are the espetos (herrings brochettes) and the pescaíto frito (varied fried fish).

Misericordia beach

The Misericordia beach is one of the largest in Málaga. There you can enjoy the sun, the sea and the city atmosphere at any of its chiringuitos while tasting espetos.

You will see two big chimneys next to the sea promenade, remains of old factories. And you can also watch Málaga tsunami, before mentioned as the ‘ola del Melillero’.

La Caleta beach

Skirted by Pablo Ruiz Picasso sea promenade and located between La Malagueta and Baños del Carmen beaches, La Caleta beach has 1,000 metres long of dark sand with moderate swell. Perfect to enjoy with the family! It is one of the most popular beaches, since it is closed to the centre, at a quartier with the same name. Its palms and grassy area are perfect to fight high temperatures under a natural shade.

In addition, the Club Deportivo La Barcaza and the Asociación de Remo y Pala de Pedregalejo, which participate at the jábegas (typical local ship) championship, are located here.

Huelin beach

Another famous beach in Málaga is Huelin beach, located just 4 kilometres away from the city centre. Its 700 metres of white sand and the near location to leisure areas, places to practise sport and parks, all make this beach perfect to be enjoyed with the family. You can also find several chiringuitos to relax and fight warm temperatures just beside the beach.
