Would you like to see the first art works of humanity? What about a lagoon full of flamingos? If you were impressed by the 5 corners we named in the previous postprevious post, down below we bring you some others which will also amaze you. Here we go!
The Botanical Garden La Concepción and its subtropical plants.
The Botanical Garden La Concepción with more than 150 years of history, has a English landscaped style and is one of the few gardens in Europe with plants of subtropical climate. It was originally conceived as a house for the recreation of the Loring, a family of the high bourgeoisie of US origin.
In this garden you can feel like a romantic traveller going around the world in eighty trees, and admiring the most common species of each continent.
Flamenco is more than music: The Fuente de Piedra Lagoon
The Fuente de Piedra Lagoon is the largest colony of flamingos (flamencos, in Spanish) in the entire Iberian Peninsula and the second in Europe. Located in the northwest of the province of Malaga, it records more than 170 species and was classified as a Natural Reserve in 1984, being an Area of Special Protection for Birds.
We recommend its guided tours and the stunning views that their viewpoints offer.
Barranco Blanco in Coín
The river route of the Barranco Blanco in Coín, although brief, runs through the most impressive part of the channel of the Alaminos river, located in the Sierra de Mijas. It is considered to be one of the most spectacular places of the Costa del Sol thanks to its transparent waters, its small waterfalls and lush vegetation.
A wonderful place to enjoy nature. Do not forget to bring specific footwear to pass through the water!
The fountain of the Cien Caños… or 101
This peculiar fountain, formed by the two streams that run down the mountains of the village of Villanueva del Trabuco, is located in the birth of the Guadalhorce river, the largest one in the province of Málaga.
Although it is known as the Fountain of the Hundred pipes, it actually has 101. This is a huge fountain attached to the limestone rock of the mountain from which flow numerous water jets from the spring. The place offers a varied landscape, alternating dryland crops and small forests of Mediterranean vegetation.
We recommend you take the path of the Route of the Cien Caños, an area particularly beautiful in spring.
Nerja Caves
The Nerja Caves are an obligatory visit on the Costa del Sol. Not in vain, they have been certified by the Guinness Book of Records, thanks to the impressive dimensions of the large column in the Cataclysm Hall: 35 meters high!
However, this natural monument has many other attractions that make it worthwhile to visit, as apart from collecting in a spectacular way all types of geological formations known, it has in addition paintings that are possibly the first works of art of humanity, being 42,000 years old.
Should you be an adventurous person, then get into action; you can dive into the depths of these caves!
