Málaga cuisine: back to the markets

 Tags: Leisure

Throughout the province of Málaga you can find food markets which have been reconverted into gourmet markets where you will find fresh products and a new way to buy them: with a drink in hand and surrounded by friends. Markets are no longer just places where you can buy fresh products, they have become meeting places where you can have a drink and tapas with family and friends.

Malaga cuisine

It is a new approach which aims to bring the markets of the Costa del Sol to life and to benefit from this feature in order to become a benchmark with regards to the quality of the products of the bars and restaurants, as well as being a tourist centre with a unique and innovative vision without moving away from tradition.

Plaza de la Merced Market

After a major reform, the Merced Market, in Málaga, has been revamped and transformed into a new gourmet venue. At this culinary space you will be able to enjoy various stands and stalls offering delicious tapas, traditional food, food from other corners of the globe such as Asia, specialised croquette stalls, Iberian products, wine bars, after-work area, etc. A new twist to revitalise this completely refurbished market which is open to a new type of public. It is located between the Plaza de la Merced and the Cervantes Theatre.

Atarazanas Market

The Atarazanas Market always surprises those that come across it by chance. Built between 1876 and 1879, this building never loses its beauty and both its exterior and what it holds inside are interesting. There are dozens of high-quality food stalls and recently restored small bars where you can eat tapas and have a drink. All of this in an ideal spot right in the city centre.

Carmen Market (Málaga)

Also recently renovated, located in the Perchel district and with a great deal of history contained within its walls, this is where the famous fish and salted products, still well renowned, have been sold for decades. The possibility of trying some of these products right there opens up a new gastronomic offer, conserving the same traditional essence.

Marbella Municipal Market

Strolling through the cosmopolitan Marbella, you will enjoy the atmosphere at this market even more. Inside you will find the La Fiesta Bar. You can enjoy live music on some Saturday afternoons and a delicious menu. Besides which, you can do your shopping in the market and ask them to prepare the products to your taste right there.

Bailén Market (Málaga)

Inside you'll find two bars specialised in traditional tapas at a very affordable price. Quality and tradition are the main ingredients to delight your palate. One of these bars has a brotherhood theme and its tapas are always unique!
