Both your body and your mind feel good when in contact with thermal water, whose minerals and substances help **restore balance**. This bit of popular wisdom became a fact recently, after scientists proved the benefits of thermal water not only for people with ailments or injuries but rather for anybody in need of a pleasant, relaxing experience. ## Body cleansing Hot water is always good, even when it does not come from the depths of the Earth. Spring water can be **hypothermal** (21 to 35º C), **mesothermal** (35 to 45º C) or **hyperthermal** (above 45º C). Warmer body temperature increases blood circulation, contributing to **systemic detox**. This way, we cleanse and purify our organs and oxygenate our tissues, improving certain bodily functions, like digestion. ## Minerals restore balance Natural thermal water contains lots of minerals that get into our body helping their levels turn back to normal. It can carry **iron** (ferruginous water), **sulphur** or **CO2** (carbonated). Its health benefits depend on its mineral contents. Iron, for instance, is good for anaemia or weight loss, while sulphur improves **skin conditions**. In the days of the Roman Empire, soldiers used to come to **Carratraca** for a bath in sulphur water. And the **Thermae of La Hedionda in Casares** have been popular since the dawn of time. ## And heat is relaxing (but be careful!) On top of their healing properties, the thermae and spas in Málaga Province are great places for **rest, relaxation and peace**. Is there anything better than a hot bath to relax and free your body from the hardships of everyday stress? However, there are a few things to bear in mind before getting under the water. No baths should be taken after workout or wakeup, and your bath should not take too long. If you follow this advice, you will accomplish **harmony** in the hot springs available on the **Costa del Sol**. The **Costa del Sol** is the perfect place for a thermal bath. The most popular thermal spas are in Tolox, Carratraca and Casares (La Hedionda).
