Are you a fan of running or cycling? Do you even record your achievements in your favourite workout application? Then, you are going to love the Costa del Sol. Organising races, getting lost with your bicycle or participating in sports events - Malaga makes it easy for you. Favourable climate and natural and urban environments will be your best allies.

Running on the beach on the Costa del Sol

Few places are so attractive to train outdoors like the promenades of the coast of Malaga. Throughout its 100 miles of coast, Malaga offers endless possibilities to practice your favourite sport while enjoying the views of the Mediterranean.

Among the must-have for runners, we highlight the promenade along the beach of Torre del Mar, in Velez-Malaga. Besides being one of the largest in Europe, it has gardens, sports facilities and toilets.

Certainly a good option is La Senda Litoral, where you can explore the whole province of Malaga on foot or bike, from Manilva to Nerja. On the western part of the Costa del Sol, you will also find some very long promenades, such as the ones in Marbella, Fuengirola and Torremolinos.

Other options include parks, boulevards and public sports centres. The Stadium Ciudad de Malaga, with training tracks for athletes, high jump and pole vault, and the Villa Deportiva Ciudad de Torremolinos, one of the most versatile and complete of the Costa del Sol complexes.

Cycling in Malaga

One of the favorite challenges of the experienced users is the rise by bicycle to the Fuente de la Reina, in the Natural Park Montes de Malaga. An effort worth it for the beautiful surroundings.

Other commendable routes for cycling lovers are the ones that link the Puente de Hierro with the Fuente de Almogia, in Valle del Guadalhorce, or those linking some milestones of the Serrania de Ronda and the Vega de Antequera. An ideal way to know the inner Malaga on two wheels.

Special mention to the routes that run along the Paraje Natural de los Acantilados de Maro or the ascent from Estepona to Puerto de Peñas Blancas in the Reales de Sierra Bermeja. Its amazing landscapes will accompany you along the way.

Nature adventure

If you are more into trail running or mountain biking, in the Gran Senda de Malaga you can test your skills and stamina. This route runs through four national parks and five protected areas of great beauty. You can choose one or more stages with all levels of difficulty.
