Dress code on golf courses

 Tags: Golf

Most golf courses have dress codes that, although are not as restrictive as the existing rules for professional players on the PGA Tour or LPGA, are created so that there is a protocol to maintain the tradition of the sport.

T- Shirts

In the vast majority of regulations, you will notice that golf courses require the use of collared shirts. Others, however, allow golf shirts with turtle neck. On the other hand, tops for female golfers vary, not giving much importance to the neck, as long as they are modest and discreet. Shirts with or without sleeves are generally allowed for both sexes.

Pants

Shorts to the knee with a flat front are generally acceptable in the summer. The most popular are the khaki chinos. Women are allowed to wear long trousers, capris, formal shorts, skirts or culottes.

It is totally prohibited for both sexes to wear jeans, jogging trousers or sports shorts.

Shoes

Special golf shoes provide stability during the swing, allow traction when walking and provide greater comfort, something to keep in mind for those games that, we know, can be extended.

Although in some courses sneakers are allowed, sandals and street shoes are forbidden.

Socks

In this regard, the rules are more ambiguous. Socks are required for golf shoes as for any sports shoes. If they are ankle or tube socks is up to you, considering the implicit dress code rule about players wearing well combined clothes.

Hats

Although they are not specified rules for them, some hats are more appropriate than others for this sport. Baseball caps are popular in both men and women but there are some that are not appropiate, such as cowboy or fedora hats.

It is always advisable to check the dress code each golf club first, but following these simple tips you will never be out of place.
