If you are an athlete, runner, or simply love to live marathons from close at hand, you have a date on Sunday the 4th of December in the capital of the Costa del Sol: the Malaga Marathon. An event where you can combine physical activity with the enjoyment of a city full of cultural and leisure activities. Would you like to know some more? Keep reading.
A privileged climate on a flat course
The Malaga Marathon offers the opportunity to enjoy the enviable climate that the Costa del Sol has all year round. The annual average temperature is about 18 degrees and the sun shines no more and no less than 300 days a year. These conditions are ideal for sports.
For the competition to be a spectacle, once again the organisation boasts of a very flat and competitive circuit, which favours the achievement of your personal best.
Enjoy the city of Malaga
The Malaga Marathon is obviously not as crowded as the New York or London one, but it is certainly one of the most beautiful races. The 26 miles of the marathon stretch through many emblematic places of the city. The competition has its start and finish in the Paseo del Parque, in the centre of Malaga, and most of the route runs through the very heart of the capital. The runners go through the Port area, La Rosaleda Stadium (where Malaga CF plays its matches during La Liga), the Pompidou Centre, the Malagueta Bullring, the Promenade of Pablo Ruiz Picasso, the Plaza de la Merced, where the painter was born and where his house is located, the Roman Theatre and the Cathedral of Malaga.
Complementary activities
Throughout the weekend, there will be complementary activities, such as the Expo Marathon at the Palacio de Deportes Jose Maria Martin Carpena, a fair that will serve as a meeting point for visitors and runners.
In addition, it is a good opportunity to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere that floods the capital of Malaga. Do your shopping in advance in the historic centre and at Larios Street and stay until it lights up. Live the magic of Christmas in Malaga!
