If we are talking about first class brands at Costa del Sol, we must just mention Marbella and Puerto Banús. Eight restaurants in the Costa del Sol have been awarded with nine stars in total at last Michelin guide. Dani García, with two stars, is the Málaga cuisine spearhead. Diego Gallegos, Mauricio Giovanini, Luis Olarra, José Carlos García, Diego del Río and Jaume Puigdengolas’restaurants, located also at Costa del Sol, have a Michelin star too.
Wine tourism
The Costa del Sol wine tradition is really ancient! Its more than 40 wineries produce first quality red, white and rosé wines. Ronda and Arriate areas produce a tasteful wine with “Sierras de Málaga” certificate of origin. You can visit La Melonera winery at Ronda, which recovered a grape variety and a 3.000 years old wine tradition in 2003.
The wine tour in the Axarquía goes through Cómpeta, Sedella, Moclinejo, Almáchar and Sayalonga, where the Fiesta del Vino de Cómpeta (Cómpeta Wine Party) is specially interesting, since they are specialists in muscatel.
There is an excellent wine also at the north. Near Antequera you will find the Málaga Virgen winery in Fuente de Piedra. Montes de Málaga region is another wine production area, as well as Manilva, where there is an important wine culture.
