Come to Costa del Sol 7 days

 Tags: Leisure

The Costa del Sol is the ideal tourist destination to enjoy the Mediterranean Sea as well as villages in the hinterland and charming towns with a powerful history. Here we tell you what to do in seven days in Costa del Sol: fairy-tale coves and beaches, fascinating natural areas and a unique cultural heritage, all together in an unforgettable journey.

From Nerja to Manilva, the coastline runs for 160km, peppered with lively beaches. Get lost in the sand in Torremolinos, Fuengirola or Estepona; go kitesurfing or sailing; try pescaíto frito (deep-fried fish) at a beach bar. And do not miss the Benalmádena marina, one of the world’s best.

On day 2, relax in one of the unspoilt coves in the Maro Cerro Gordo Cliffs. They are close to the cave of Nerja, named ‘the Prehistoric Cathedral’ after the invaluable archaeological evidence found in it.

Art and culture

After a couple of days having fun on the beach, go on a cultural tour of Málaga, a fascinating 2,800-year-old city. Travel back in time as you visit the Roman Theatre, the Gibralfaro Castle or the Arab Fortress, and take a look at Picasso’s work in the museum dedicated to the Málaga-born genius.

Spend days 4 and 5 in Antequera and Ronda, two towns with an impressive architectural and cultural heritage. The latter is renowned for the gorge that cuts the city in half, the 200-year-old bullring and the traditional mountain cuisine.

From the countryside to the world

Spanish fir and Portuguese oak groves, meandering rivers and white villages perched on the sierras make the typical landscape of rural Málaga. On day 6 you can explore the countryside and its natural wonders while picking up the traces left by the Romans, the Muslims and the Christians.

Before going back come, treat yourself to something nice. The Costa del Sol markets and shops sell anything you can imagine. If you are in for a shopping spree, the best choice if Marbella, whose old town is perfect for bar hopping and tapas.
