In February, the historic center of Málaga becomes an outdoors center stage, where fun and delight have no limits. For nine days, The Carnival takes over the streets, bringing magic to the capital of Costa del Sol. Come and be part of this unique experience. Don’t forget to bring your costume!
Let the party started!
The celebration of the carnival starts with the opening parade on the streets of Málaga, preceding the election of “Gods” of the festivities. On February 18th those aspiring to rule over the “Olympus” will display their elaborate outfits and stunning performances on stage. Filling La Constitución square with a mix of color and fantasy.
On the next day, the first costume parade takes place at the old town of Málaga. Music and humor will accompany the parade through some of the city’s most emblematic places like Larios street or la Merced square. Right after the music tone will be provided by the murgas, comparsas and cuartetos, music groups, that with their special comical and emotional songs, will make you laugh and cry.

At La Constitución square, from 20th to 25th of February, Experience the best “cuplés” and “pasodobles”, both typical Spanish music genres and be amazed by the music performances, displayed around the streets of Málaga by the participants on the Carnival Group Contents.
On 24th and 25th of February at Larios street, be part of the Drag Queens Gala, the Parade of “Gods” and the Flower Battle. This peculiar “war” where your only weapon will be flower petals. Are you ready to fight for your life?
Long live the boquerón
On February 26th, the beginning of the end of The Carnival of Malaga 2017 starts with a new parade around the historical center. To end the festivity with the right attitude, come to the fried boquerones free tasting at La Constitución square.
The final goodbye will take place in the afternoon with the Boquerón “burial”, Málaga’s emblematic fish, who’s the carnival spirit symbol, will be taken on a parade with the final destination in Malagueta Beach, but this more than a farewell is an event full of joy and entertainment. The “funeral” will end up with the burning of the fish by the sea and with a fireworks show.
