Calm and bustling. Comfort and adventure. The 161 kilometres of coastline on the Costa del Sol give us a lot of beaches in which diversity takes precedence. If you feel like nature in its purest state and the tranquillity of a virgin beach, we have bays that fulfil these requirements.
If, on the other hand, you prefer beaches with a full range of services, including beach bar and sardine spit, there are many more beaches on the Costa del Sol that are perfect for you. The best thing about our coastline is that it offers options for all tastes. We recommend some of the best beaches in the province of Malaga.
The Classic: Carihuela Beach
The first beach to be highlighted is a historic symbol of the Costa del Sol as a tourist destination.Torremolinos began the ‘boom’ in the 1960’s and has not stopped growing. Today, Carihuela Beach, originally a fishing village, is the holiday epicentre of a municipality that offers a full range of services and comfort.
Carihuela Beach boasts 2.1 kilometres of dark sand, a promenade to contemplate the hotels that marked an era in Torremolinos and the best beach bars in the whole province. Those who come and try the spits that are cooked here, discover that the preparation is different and special.
The Acclaimed: Burriana Beach
Nerja and its municipality enjoy a dual honour when it comes to beaches. This list includes two totally different but just as beautiful beaches in Nerja. Furthermore, one of them, Burriana Beach, has been considered in recent years as one of the best beaches in Andalusia. The reasons are clear. It combines facilities with a wide range of services, such as kiosks, showers, and disabled access, with stunning views of the mountains and cliffs in the area. Here, you can sunbathe, swim, play volleyball and practise all kinds of water sports.
Family Beach: Torre del Mar
We move to the other side of the province. Torre del Mar, in Velez-Malaga, boasts one of the best promenades on the Malaga coast. It is perfect to enjoy a weekend with the family: wide with a cycle way for kids and adults alike and many catering establishments just a few metres away to savour a good Malaga fry-up. The beach has everything to enjoy a pleasant summer day and its waters are clear, clean and tranquil.
The Wild Beach: Maro
Maro-Cerro Gordo is known by adventurers worldwide: its difficult access is directly proportional to the reward on getting there. The mountain meets the sea, embracing nooks and crannies. Small bays off the beaten track offer absolute peace with virgin sands but fully equipped.
Bathing is synonym of adventure: you can explore the natural caves formed by the crashing of the waves against the rock, you can contemplate impressive waterfalls from the water and you can cover all of the rock formations by canoe. This is a different way of having a good time on the Costa del Sol that you won’t forget.
