Golf stopped being considered an Olympic sport in 1904. Over a century after that, 112 years to be more precise, it is once again part of the olympic program in this edition of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Malaga is represented by Azahara Muñoz, one of the best Spanish golfers in the world ranking. The Spanish women's golf team is completed by Carlota Ciganda and the captain, Marta Figueras- Dotti.

This 29 year old is living her dream, as she herself said in several interviews. Born in Marbella, the golfer feels very proud to represent Spain at the Olympic Games in Rio.
With two Solheim Cup, two victories in the French Female Open integrated into the LET and two more in the American Women Circuit, her classification for these games was unquestionable.
Malaga is also present at the Olympic Village in other disciplines: Shot-put competitor Borja Vivas, swimmers Duane da Rocha and Carlos Peralta, and finally the handball player Marta López.

The women's golf competition will take place from 17 to 20 August. 60 golfers will compete in a 72 holes stroke play during 4 sessions of 18 holes each. Every single player is determined to take a medal home
The Barra de Tijuca, a brand new course, recently built by the Atlantic and located in the Marapendi Reserve, will host this competition.
