Costa del Sol stands up because of its golf courses. It has the largest golf facilities concentration in Europe. If there is someone who has highlighted at this sport is Miguel Ángel Jiménez, a Spanish golf legend, who has won numerous tournaments and common member of the Ryder Cup Europe team. He is head of the Miguel Ángel Golf Academy, designed by himself and located in Torremolinos, where he instils the sport proper values to all school members.
European Capital of Sport in 2020
The region hosts sport events along the whole year. It has the proper facilities to be HQ of any event. That is the reason why Málaga has been chosen as European Capital of Sport in 2020, proving its enhancement at this segment in the last years. Prague and Marseilles were so in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Sofia and Budapest have this honour at the moment, and they will pass on the baton to Costa del Sol.
