The museums in the province of Malaga are constantly becoming richer and more varied. Throughout the Costa del Sol, you can find all types of museums, the most iconic of which, including the Picasso Museum, are located in the capital. In addition to the various permanent collections open for visits year round, there is an extraordinary programme set up for 2016. It's an amazing opportunity to discover the artwork of globally-renowned artists. Don't miss:

Jackson Pollock and Joaquín Torres-García, in Malaga's Picasso Museum

The Picasso Museum in Malaga will host two temporary exhibitions in 2016. The first is dedicated to Jackson Pollock and the second, to Joaquín Torres-García. The first will include, most likely for the first and last time in Spain due to preservation reasons, the monumental Mural by the US painter, whose unique style is characterised by throwing paint. The exhibition will be open from 20 April to 11 September 2016.

In autumn and thanks to the collaboration with the MOMA, the Picasso Museum will host a Torres-García retrospective. Torres-García was one of the most complex avant-garde Latin-American artists. The programme will end with a new presentation of works by the Malagueño painter in the spring.

Chagall comes to Malaga

The Russian Museum embarks on its second year open with an exhibition of works by Marc Chagall and Georg Baselitz. It will also present exhibitions dedicated to the Jota de Diamantes collective and another focusing on contemporary Russian artists. The gallery will also feature nearly 200 pieces given to it by the Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg.

Carlos Revilla, in Marbella

The Ralli Museum in Marbella will feature a temporary exhibition dedicated to Carlos Revilla, a Peruvian artist who belonged to the Magical Realism movement, starting in September 2016. Experts say that in his works, we see the reflections of his worries, his obsessions and his devotion to beauty and the feminine figure. He seems to be strongly influenced by the great European artists such as Durero, Bosch, and Velázquez.
