Active travel in Málaga: more than just hiking

 Tags: Nature

Active travel is all about going your own way rather than having your trip come your way. It means new experiences, feelings you have never had before. Active travel is an adrenaline rush. Active travel takes you through the valleys and mountains of Málaga Province, but on the Costa del Sol it is more than just that. You will explore both coastal and hinterland Málaga in a completely new way.

By air

Would you like to feel free? Would you like to make a dream come true that men have had since time immemorial? Would you like to fly? The beauty of Málaga Province as seen high from the sky can be an awesome experience, bound to stick in your mind forever. You could defy gravity – something everybody should do once in a lifetime.

You can fly over the province in a hot-air balloon (launch sites in Antequera and Ronda) or go paragliding. No special training is required and you will be assisted by expert guides. You just need to run a little at take-off and landing. Relax and enjoy the Costa del Sol from an amazingly new perspective.

By land

If flying is not your cup of tea, you can always have both feet on the ground: it is affordable and can be as intense and enjoyable. Ride along off-road trails in an all-terrain vehicle for adventure and incredible sightseeing in our province.

Centuries-old trees, unspoilt rivers, breathtaking views… We cannot guarantee pothole-free trails but we can make sure you have terrific fun. Some active travel agencies take visitors on hiking tours across Málaga’s hinterland, where you will learn everything about the culture, gastronomy, heritage, history and traditions of the villages you walk through. Absolutely fascinating!

By sea

Lovers of the sea have a host of options to choose from. There are boat rides along the coast and kayaking past the cascades descending over the steep cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo. Hidden caverns and well-kept secrets.

Beyond the Mediterranean, there are many rivers to explore. You can both hike to rushing waterfalls and hit fast rivers in a kayak. In Málaga Province and the Costa del Sol, the only limit to your thirst for adventure is the one you want to set.
