Arriving at the Costa del Sol by sea promises some unique views, as the Port is situated right in the heart of the city. Amongst the different moorings available for cruise ships, one in particular has an exclusivity found in few moorings in the world. The Port of Málaga’s Muelle Guadiaro, or Muelle Dos (Mooring Two), is one of the few in the world that can boast of being only five minutes' walk from its most iconic buildings.
Due to its physical peculiarities, this terminal is dedicated exclusively to luxury cruise ships and private mega yachts. There is a length restriction for moorings. The aforementioned vessels are usually smaller than typical cruise ships, so passengers can disembark right in the centre of Málaga, just a short walk away from monuments like Málaga Cathedral or the famous calle Larios. This is what sets this passenger terminal apart: from the moment you disembark you are completely immersed in the gastronomy, monuments, shopping, culture and leisure activities offered by the Costa del Sol’s capital.
This exclusive cruise ship terminal is perfectly equipped for the tourist's arrival. In fact, the entire Málaga port facility is equipped with state of the art mobile passenger boarding bridges.
Palmeral de las Sorpresas
Muelle Dos is located in Palmeral de las Sorpresas, a recreational area of the city running alongside the Port, with restaurants, exhibition spaces (a few short metres away is the Málaga Pompidou Centre and Muelle Uno), worthy of a visit even if only to admire the splendid design. Created by Jerónimo Junquera, the project has, amongst other distinctions, won the Cemex International Building Award.
Next to the terminal, a total of 408 palm trees, hundreds of shrubs and Mediterranean plants interspersed with fountains welcome new arrivals to the city.
Passenger Terminals
Besides this exclusive terminal, Málaga port also has a modern infrastructure for cruise ships situated in the Muelle Levante. The maritime station has the capacity to handle one million passengers.
