By carrying out these activities we can get close to Málaga's flora and fauna at the same time as engaging in physical exercise. There are more than 40 official hiking trails in Málaga,short and long , with slopes and plains, rivers and all kinds of flora and fauna. Here are some of the most popular trails amongst hikers.
The yellow trial of Torcal de Antequera
The yellow trail of Torcal de Antequera is a must when visiting the Costa del Sol. In the heart of the municipality of Antequera, this trail, which is of a low level of difficulty, offers a 2-hour walk in which you will be able to enjoy a 3 km journey through the area's surprising karst landscapes.
The Maroma trail
In the Mountain Ranges of the Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park is the Maroma, the highest peak in the province of Málaga with 2,065 metres. Although this trail is more complicated than the previous one, the 18 km route is clearly marked and the full trail is a 7-hour walk. We recommend access to the trail via Canillas de Aceituno, making the most of the opportunity to visit this pretty village.
The Torrecilla trail
The Torrecilla Peak is one of the most well-known of the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park, another mountainous area not to be missed when visiting the Costa del Sol. We recommend that you start the trial in Los Quejigales, a recreational area in the town of Ronda. This 6-hour route offers us a 7.5 km walk through a forest abundant in both flora and fauna.
The trail of the Turvilla and Cueva del Melero streams
This trail offers a different landscape to the others, as it passes by two streams in Axarquía, the Turvilla and Cueva del Melero streams. The trail commences in the municipality of Canillas de Albaida, at the famous Fábrica de la Luz, from where you will enjoy a 6 and a half hour walk over 13.5 km.
