The San Roque Club is a tourist resort which stands out in the world of sports featuring numerous facilities such as golf, padel, tennis, swimming, gymnastics and even horse riding. They also offer visitors one of the best Japanese restaurants in Spain, Kamakura.
At the hand of its director, Guillermo Navarro, we are taken through some of the milestones the San Roque Club has reached and the services that it offers:
Official Hotel of the Ryder Cup
The San Roque Club was the official hotel of the Ryder Cup in 1997. Both the United States and European team players stayed at the facilities. The gala dinner was held at its facilities. Today, this important event is still remembered; the plaques with the names of the players and the suites in which they stayed have been kept on display.
Venue for the Spanish Open
It also hosted the Spanish Open for two consecutive years in 2005 and 2006. Another great international sports milestone which put the hotel complex on the world stage.
Wide range of sports
There is more on offer at the resort than its star golf and tennis facilities. The club has one of the most comprehensive sports complexes. Amongst its numerous services, it offers its visitors an equestrian centre, a padel court and a swimming pool. It also has a weight-training centre and a sauna for after the work-out.
The Japanese restaurant
The club belongs to the Tezuka family and they always aspired to bring a part of Japan to Spain. Kamakura is a benchmark for Japanese cuisine in Spain. Most of its products have been imported, from the soy to the sake. And the fish too, of course. Even its construction follows its own style and traditional materials brought over from Asia were used .
Golf tourism on the Costa del Sol is one of its greatest attractions. From San Roque Club´s historical green to the dozens of first class facilities spread out across the province, visitors can enjoy their favourite sport all year thanks to the unique Malaga climate.
