Located in one of the biggest destinations in the Costa del Sol, Santa Clara Golf Marbella is just a stone’s throw from all the wonders of the Marbella coastline. Perfectly combining luxury, nature and the utmost attention to detail, the course is one of the best known in Marbella and a must-play for lovers of the sport.
While the Costa del Golf is a popular destination among amateur and pro golfers around the world, Marbella is even more so. This internationally renowned seaside destination is home to a concentration of courses and academies, including Santa Clara Golf, which has a reputation for its excellent design (by Canales Busquets), technical difficulty and golf academy, which runs summer camps where the players of the future are trained. Shall we take a look around?
Native plant life meets functional design
Santa Clara Golf Marbella was designed by the professional course architect Enrique Canales Busquets, who died in 2014 after dedicating his life to golf and promoting it in the province of Malaga. Combining a respect for the endemic plant life and the functionality of the round, the course design is the perfect example of the work that won Canales the Medal of Merit for Golf, which he was awarded by Real Federación Andaluza in 1983.
The gently rolling fairways with a splattering of trees - that breathe tranquillity - define the identity of the course. Santa Clara Golf Course in Marbella was opened in 2001 and today, twenty years on, it is a well-known course that has a reputation for being straightforward and respectful of the local wildlife.

18 holes for a par of 71
Beyond its classic beauty, Santa Clara Golf Marbella is known for being a challenging course. It certainly isn’t a good place for beginners to make their debut. As you play your way around the 18 holes - for a total par of 71 - you will come across roughs and other hazards that make it a technical round.
If you don’t feel ready to take on the challenge of the course, not to worry. Santa Clara is home to one of Marbella’s best driving ranges. There are a total of two practice tees, each of which has space for 15 players, where you can work on your swing to your heart’s content.
And once you’ve finetuned your skills, there’s no excuse not to play the course as you would any other. So what can you expect? To combine long distance shots with more technical play to get over the hazards and succeed at holes 12, 13 and 14, which is known as the Santa Clara Corner.
Services and nightlife within striking distance
The advantage of being on the motorway connecting Marbella and Cádiz is that it gives you the opportunity to dip in and out of the services and nightlife of Marbella whenever the fancy takes you. The most cosmopolitan and vibrant town in the Costa del Golf has got more restaurants, bars and clubs than you could possibly visit in one getaway. Wander down the seafront promenade to stretch out tired legs or take a dip in the sea to cool off after an afternoon at the course. Marbella really does have it all.
Santa Clara Golf reflects the effortless luxury of Marbella. Not only can you enjoy fine cuisine outside the course, but you can savour authentic dishes at the course restaurant, Kayena. The ideal place to take your friends and family for a delicious meal out.
