Golfing with the family

 Tags: Golf

Tiger Woods was trained from a very young age by his father Earl Woods. Tiger could carry his golf club before he could walk, and won his first tournament at the age of three! Not all kids, however, are prodigies in a sport that calls for hours and hours of practice.

The most important thing is to share your hobby with your family, passing on your knowledge and sharing memorable experiences with your children. Here are a few of our recommendations to achieve just that:

Make sure they have fun

They are kids, so they always want to play and enjoy themselves. The more creative and original the game is, the more fun they will have with it, so give them a few small challenges and keep all the lessons short and playful. You can play scramble, for example, where you all play with the same ball and the game becomes more dynamic.

Camps and group classes

Individual sports are not very appealing to the young, so they will get more enjoyment out of a group class. In the Costa del Sol there are many golf academies that offer classes both for individual learners and for groups.

A pair of holes

Young children will be bored by a full round of the golf course, so it is better to start with just a few holes and simplify the game by teeing off from the fairway. It is also a good idea to play when there are few other players around, so that you don’t feel rushed.

Look after the course

It is essential to teach kids to be responsible from the start. Show your children how the course can be damaged when you play, and that by leaving it in the best possible conditions, you make sure that you can enjoy it for longer.

Touching the ball

The sooner they learn the basic rules, such as the penalties that apply for touching the ball, the better.

In short, don't forget that even a sport as technical and complex as this should be played for fun. Check with the different courses on the Costa del Sol, because many of them have excellent training facilities.
