If you prefer the mountains to the beach, don't worry: in Malaga, there are options for all tastes. Courses such as Baviera Golf, located near the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama and with fabulous sea views, are halfway between this option and the previous one. For lovers of mountains, tranquillity and charming villages, La Zagaleta Golf Club, secluded in the heart of nature, has the peace and miles of woodland needed for a good golfing holiday, as does San Roque Club.
The municipalities of Antequera and Mijas also have first-class golf courses away from the hustle and bustle of the beach areas. Antequera Golf, for example, has an enviable space full of protected trees; this allows you to spend an afternoon exploring El Torcal de Antequera. The Malaga agenda has two extremely interesting events that will take place close to the October long weekend or during the long weekend itself: Mango Golf 2022 and the Estrella Damm N.A Andalucía Masters 2022.
The promotion of golf tourism on the Costa del Sol is not something exclusively limited to courses and accommodation, but to the whole golf industry in the province; the Mangolf or Mango Golf 2022 campaign is a perfect example of this! Combining the interest in promoting golf in the province with the promotion of the Malaga mango, these days mix gastronomy, sport and competition. It will be held from the 8th to the 23rd of October at Baviera Golf. Specifically, the 3rd Mangolf Tournament will take place on the 8th of October, a few days before the long weekend, although the gastronomic days are extended from the 10th to the 23rd of October, creating the perfect opportunity for a different kind of long weekend.
Meanwhile, the Real Club Valderrama de Sotogrande, one of the golf courses on the Costa del Sol located in Cadiz, will host the latest edition of the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters tournament from the 13th to the 16th of October, a DP World Tour event. It’s the perfect date for those who can extend the long weekend!
