Antigua Casa de Guardia
A mandatory visit if you travel to the city. This well known tabern was founded by the famous Málaga decanter and winegrower José de Guardia in 1840. This is the oldest winery of the city, an authentic monument to Málaga wines and their history. In this place you could taste sweet wines as Pajarete, Pedro Ximénez, Moscatel or Guinda, complemented with mussels, shrimps or prawns. If you finally decide to “tapear” here, you will be surprised by how they did not overcome by the time running, keeping traditions as writting the clients orders by clay on the bar. Shocking actually!
Restaurante Chinitas
Eating at Restaurante Chinitas is a great experience. Located at the very center of Málaga, its name comes from the famous café-teatro ‘El Chinitas’, opened in the XIX century. This unique place, decorated with bullfighters pictures, builds its gastronomy with local products and the Mediterranean diet, as well as typical dishes from the region and a huge variety of tapas.
El Pimpi
City symbol and meeting point for natives and also tourists, el Pimpi opened in 1971. Located in an old typical mansion from the XVIII, you could enjoy the local gastronomy and a variety of regional wines here.
Its name points out to el Pimpi, a wellknown local character that helped crews and passengers from boats that arrived in the city harbour. Generations of personalities from flamenco, politics and art, as the Picasso family, CarmenThyssen, Antonio Banderas and the duchess of Alba among others, they came through its halls
