Event and activities in the charming villages of Andalusia

A visit to Casares on the 28th of February is a great idea, since it is the birthplace of Blas Infante, the founding father of Andalusian nationalism. As well as its historical importance, Casares has a whole host of wonderful activities arranged for this special day. These include a Tribute to Andalusian Symbols, a celebration of the identity and culture of this region.

El Burgo will be honouring its traditional celebration, known as Día de la Sopa de los Siete Ramales or Day of the Seven Ingredient Soup, its emblematic dish, named after the ingredients used in its preparation: tomato, pepper, onion, garlic, bread, potato and asparagus.

During this day, visitors have the opportunity to sample this delicious soup along with some typical cakes and pastries baked in wood ovens by the inhabitants of the village. An authentic culinary experience, declared a Festival of Provincial Tourist Interest so you can enjoy local tradition and flavour on Andalusia Day.

Another wonderful place to visit is Humilladero, a village surrounded by agricultural landscapes and natural beauty spots. On the 28th of February, there will be an institutional event, a food fair and live performances featuring Tamara Vargas, Javi Santiago, La Negri and DJ Christian Ramos. A day full of great music, awards and culinary delights.

The residents of Ojén take advantage of the fact that Andalusia Day coincides with Carnival to hold a huge fancy dress party in the town square. Laughter and fun are guaranteed.

February is a special month for the inhabitants of Manilva, who celebrate the values and traditions of Andalusia on the 28th. This festive day includes entertainment, food, and cultural activities, among others.

The following proposal is aimed at lovers of adventure and nature. There will be an organised hike to the highest mountain peak in the province of Malaga, La Maroma (2,068 metres high at the summit). Located in Canillas de Aceituno, it is within the boundaries of the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Nature Park. It is a challenging 20 km hike, but the purpose is to commemorate Andalusia Day with breathtaking views of a cinematic landscape.

In Archidona, celebrations include an unmissable sporting event: the Andalusia Day Race. It takes place on the 28th of February every year and is 1.8 km in length, with 500 metre races for younger participants. In the race, you can enjoy the picturesque streets of this village while you do sport.
