If you like travelling with your pet, on the Costa del Sol you’ll find everything you need to get the most out of your holidays without giving up the company of your best friend. Dog-friendly beaches and parks, pet-friendly hotels... Here we’ll tell you some of the alternatives available in the province of Malaga.
Dog-friendly beaches in Malaga
The Costa del Sol has numerous dog-friendly beaches where pets are allowed to bathe too. One of the best of these beaches is the Playa del Castillo, next to the Sohail Castle in Fuengirola. Torre de Mar has perhaps the best dog-friendly beach in Malaga. It is located close to the mouth of the River Vélez, along the Mortero stretch, and is about 4,000 square metres long. This beach of fine sand has many amenities for your pets, including a play area and a special water-fountain for dogs.
Marbella has two dog-friendly beaches. One of them is the Playa El Pinillo, which is 1.5 km long, located on the outskirts of the city, and has a small area for dogs. The beach covers 250 sq. metres, and it has all the necessary facilities installed for owners and pets to enjoy themselves to the full. The other dog-friendly beach of which the town boasts is the Playa de Ventura de Mar, next to Gran Hotel Guadalpín Banús.
Another of these beaches is the Playa de Arroyo Totalán, situated in between Malaga and the Cala del Moral bay. And in Casares you can find another dog-friendly beach: the Playa de Piedra Paloma.
The capital and other towns of the province also have parks specifically designed for the enjoyment of dogs. With free entry, green areas and fountains, owners can let their pets off the leash to run and play freely.
In Malaga city itself there are many dog-friendly parks: Parque El Morlaco, Parque del Norte, Parque de Huelin, Parque de San Miguel, Parque de La Barriguilla and the La Concepción Botanical Garden. In Marbella, you’ll find the Parque de Nagüeles; Mijas has two dog-friendly parks, one on Calle José Orbaneja and one on Calle Ciprés; and in Fuengirola there’s “Guau Guau” (Woof woof). All of them offer you open spaces where you can enjoy yourself strolling peacefully with your dog.
