Whats new about the Málaga Festival 2015

 Tags: Culture

All the spotlights are pointing to Málaga City, the capital of Costa del Sol. Málaga is a diverse and dynamic city brimming with culture. Amongst its top attractions are museums and spaces dedicated to the arts, both conventional and alternative. Soon it is holding one of its major events, the 18th Málaga Spanish Film Festival, which puts Málaga City on the national and international cultural map.

Film, music and food

Would you ask for something else? The 2015 edition is showing a huge number of Spanish films and will host side events focusing on two things that are closely linked to film – music and food. First, there is the FM Festival, an indie music festival with some of the leading indie bands: Anni B. Sweet, Soleá Morente, Neuman, Airbag, Biznaga and The Oddballs. And best of all, admission is free.

Second, there is GastroWeekend, which combines film and gastronomy. The Albéniz cinema theatre will screen a documentary on gastronomy, host a panel and offer a tasty surprise. GastroWeekend will be sponsored by Dani García, a chef from Málaga who has earned two Michelin stars.

Steady growth

The 17th Málaga Festival, held in 2014, enjoyed considerable growth compared with the previous edition. There was a higher number of films, increased impact in the city's economy, more ticket sales, activities, and so forth. In 2015, the organisers hope the Málaga Festival will follow this upward trend to become the best-ever Málaga Spanish Film Festival. Apparently, predictions suggest they will make it happen.

Get ready, find a good hotel in Málaga City, pack your luggage and come enjoy great movies, the mild weather and the nice atmosphere of Costa del Sol.

The festival is a world-class event aimed at promoting the national film industry. It becomes bigger every year, with more screenings, attendees and prestige. Enthusiastic fans catch a glimpse of the glamour of the red carpet, watch an enormous number of quality films and have a good time in the many restaurants, bars and other establishments that have mushroomed across the historic district of Málaga City. This year, you will not want to miss what the Málaga Festival has to offer.
