Concert halls and dedicated spaces
Starting in the capital of the Costa del Sol, Malaga has one of the most striking and best soundproofed venues in the province, the Unicaja María Cristina concert hall. This venue is located in the centre of the city, its baroque decoration evocative of a glorious past whilst you enjoy a great live performance.
Without leaving the capital, lovers of rock music can feel at home at ZZ Pub, located in the historical centre of Malaga. One of the most recognised venues for young people is París 15, which has hosted the big names on the national and international scene. Jazz has a home at the Vincci Selección Posada del Patio, hotel which hosts exhilarating weekly sessions.
The most emotional musical programming in the province can be found at the occasional concerts held at Cueva de Nerja, the Alcazaba de Málaga or the Castillo Sohail in Fuengirola.
Festivals for every taste
The most notable musical festivals held over the summer include 3 very different propositions. The first festival is Ojeando, which takes place on 3 and 4 July in the beautiful village of Ojén. This festival transforms Ojén into the capital of indie and modern culture for five days.
The Weekend Beach Festival, held between 8-11 July at Torre del Mar, is in its second consecutive year following the success of its first edition. This year the billboard brings together artists of the stature of Damian Marley, Chambao & Macaco, amongst many others. Without a doubt, the Weekend Beach Festival has become a benchmark festival for the young.
A jewel in the Costa del Sol’s musical offering is the Starlite Festival, held during the months of July and August. The festival held at the Marbella amphitheatre gathers the most exclusive productions from the world of cinema, art, music and television. Some of the artists set to feature on the stage at Starlite this summer are Lenny Kravitz, Lionel Richie, Melendi or Roger Hodgson, amongst other national and international musical legends.
