Just 12 kilometres from Málaga city, Rincón de la Victoria is the gateway to the Axarquía region and one of the most comprehensive destinations on the Costa del Sol. Almost nine kilometres of expansive beaches, cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean, ancient caves and a renowned golf course coexist within the same municipality, which comprises the population centres of La Cala del Moral, Rincón de la Victoria, Torre de Benagalbón and Benagalbón.

What to visit in Rincón de la Victoria: a destination that has it all
The heritage of Rincón de la Victoria dates back to the Palaeolithic period and continues to the present day through caves, Roman villas, fortifications and watchtowers located throughout the municipality.
Cueva del Tesoro and Cueva de la Victoria: history beneath the ground
Cueva del Tesoro is one of only three visitable caves of marine origin in the world and the only one in Europe. Its galleries, shaped by the waves over thousands of years, preserve cave paintings and archaeological remains from the Upper Palaeolithic period. Nearby, Cueva de la Victoria offers an active caving tourism experience: its two kilometres of galleries provide an opportunity to view prehistoric engravings and paintings dating from the Upper Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods.
Villa Antiopa: a Roman villa overlooking the sea
Villa Antiopa, one of the best-preserved Roman villas in Andalusia, is located in Torre de Benagalbón. Dating from the 3rd century AD, it preserves mosaics of great value, including one depicting Satyr and Antiope, who is seduced by a satyr that is actually the god Zeus in disguise. It also contains architectural remains and ceramics that help reconstruct everyday life during that period. Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 2008, its immersive museum experience combines traditional resources with technology to bring history closer to visitors.
Casa Fuerte Bezmiliana and the watchtowers
Casa Fuerte Bezmiliana was commissioned by Charles III in 1766 to defend the coast against piracy. Today, it is the municipality’s most emblematic monument and serves as an exhibition venue. The preserved defensive architecture of the municipality also includes two 16th-century watchtowers: El Cantal Tower, located above the cliffs, and Torre de Benagalbón Tower, situated beside the N-340 road. Both were built to monitor the sea and warn of possible incursions.
Beaches of Rincón de la Victoria: sunshine and the Mediterranean
Almost nine kilometres of coastline are divided among four distinct beaches:
• La Cala del Moral Beach: an urban beach with dark sand, bordered by the cliffs and tunnels of El Cantal.
• Rincón de la Victoria Beach: the longest beach, also known as El Tajo, with the Virgen del Carmen seafront promenade serving as the centre of leisure activities.
• Torre de Benagalbón Beach: a quieter beach located beside the watchtower from which it takes its name.
• Los Rubios Beach: situated at the eastern end of the municipality, with areas of protected dune vegetation.
El Cantal cliffs and the Senda Litoral coastal path
The El Cantal cliffs are one of the most recognisable sights in Rincón de la Victoria. Their historic tunnels, opened in 1908 for the railway line connecting Málaga and Vélez-Málaga, can be explored on foot. El Cantal Forest Park also offers viewpoints, walking trails and picnic areas.
Beside Cueva del Tesoro, the Mediterranean Archaeological Park recreates paths and cave paintings within an area covering more than 90,000 square metres. At the eastern end of the municipality, the Torre de Benagalbón Ecological Promenade crosses Los Rubios Beach and forms part of the Senda Litoral, the project connecting the entire Málaga coastline on foot, as well as the second stage of the Gran Senda de Málaga long-distance trail.
Añoreta Golf: sport overlooking the Mediterranean
Rincón de la Victoria is home to one of the province’s leading golf courses: Añoreta Golf, the first golf course in the Axarquía region. Designed by Ryder Cup player José María Cañizares, it offers an 18-hole, par-72 course with sea views. Now known as Añoreta Resort, the complex also features padel courts, water sports and equestrian activities, restaurants and accommodation, all just a short distance from the coast and with excellent connections to Málaga and its airport.
