# Plans for the May Day Long Weekend on the Costa del Sol

This weekend sees one of the Costa del Sol’s most anticipated events of spring: the **Fuengirola International Festival of Nations**. This is the most cosmopolitan and international of events, where you can journey to different countries around the world and learn about their culture, food and traditions. There will also be entertaining plays, **food festivals** and sporting events such as the **Second Press Race**. Are you coming?

**International Festival of Nations, Fuengirola**  
The Fuengirola International Festival of Nations is one of the essential events this May Day holiday weekend. This festival offers a journey through the different cultures and traditions of more than 30 countries worldwide.

**Second Press Race**  
Journalists from all over Spain are gathering in Malaga this weekend to participate in the Second Press Race, held to celebrate World Press Freedom Day. The race is suitable for everyone, so don’t hesitate to get involved!

## Festivals and Fairs

**Blood sausage festival in Canillas de Aceituno**  
Spring is the perfect time to escape into inland Malaga and discover its traditional towns and festivals. This weekend, it’s the turn of Canillas de Aceituno, which pays homage to one of its traditional products: blood sausage. Culinary tastings, local wines, music and a good atmosphere complement each other perfectly.

## Theatre

**Cosas de papá y mamá (Mum-and-Dad Things)**  
After reaping great success in the major Spanish theatres, Estepona’s Felipe VI Auditorium is hosting the entertaining work “Cosas de papá y mamá”. In it, María Luisa Merlo and Juan Meseguer give life to Elena and Leandro, who begin a love affair in the face of their children’s opposition.

## Exhibitions

**The appearance of reality. Fifty years of realist art in Spain**  
For its new temporary exhibition, Malaga’s Carmen Thyssen Museum brings together works by the leading realist painters of the twentieth century. At the exhibition, you can see works by artists such as Antonio López, Isabel Quintanilla and María Martín.
