Parador Golf Course Malaga: a veteran of golf in the Costa del Sol

 Tags: Golf

Sitting on the beautiful shores of the Mediterranean, Parador de Málaga Golf was designed by Harry Sephard (who also worked on the Wentworth course) and opened in 1925. Its beginnings are linked to the British royal family, specifically Princess Beatrice, the mother of Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, who used to holiday in the area and was instrumental in the creation of the club.

Ever since its inauguration, the establishment has been known as an icon in the world of golf as the course, previously known as “Real Club de Campo”, was the very first to be built in Andalusia. And although it originally had just 9 holes, later, under the direction and design of the renowned Tom Simpson, it was extended to become an 18 hole course (6,173m, par-72).

An incredible hotel for golf lovers

The club is located just 10 minutes from Malaga city. As soon as you step inside, your attention will be drawn to its extensive grounds as well as the superb facilities - both in terms of the hotel and the golf services - which have been renovated (and extended) over the years to remain at the avant-garde.

On the upper floor, the guestrooms have spacious terraces that afford unparalleled vistas over the beach, the pool nestled in pretty grounds and, of course, the golf course. In one of its most recent renovations, the building was done up in a modern wood-based décor that is defined by understated furniture and clean, beautiful lines. The result is a generous and light-filled space that will make you feel right at home.

100% authentic local cuisine

Another of the draws of Parador de Málaga Golf is, without doubt, its gastronomy. Chef Juan Antonio Aguilar personally selects the very best locally sourced ingredients, which are then used to create his delicious dishes. Fish and seafood are sourced from Caleta de Vélez market, fruit and vegetables from La Axarquía and Guadalhorce valley and treacle from Frigiliana, guaranteeing the dishes are made with authentic and quality produce. The cuisine at Parador de Málaga Golf is defined by the traditions of the province of Malaga, which you can savour with extraordinary views over the sea and the golf course. The restaurant serves delicious local specialities, such as pescaíto frito, gazpachuelo, ajoblanco, anchovies from Rincón de la Victoria, prepared in different ways, delicious cheeses from Ronda and much more.
