'Hipster' coffee shops on the Costa del Sol

 Tags: Culture

In a city as cosmopolitan as Málaga, there are plenty of places for hipsters. As you probably know, it's that urban movement of young people with tastes associated with vintage clothes and fashion, who opt for an alternative lifestyle, and who value independence and technology. We suggest exploring and getting to know the coffee shops and bars where you can find this atmosphere on the Costa del Sol.

"El último mono"

This coffee shop is essentially what is called "buenrollista", that is, it has "good vibes", and this is transmitted in each and every detail. It's located in the centre of Málaga, and among the clientele sitting at the tables, as well as hipsters you'll also find all kinds of intellectuals gathered round the tables, drinking organic coffees and natural fruit juices. Always with a lively atmosphere, it's an excellent meeting place.

"Recyclo Bike"

Hipsters love moving around by bicycle, and if it has a retro aesthetic even better. The decision to favour this form of sustainable mobility in urban areas is increasingly popular in Málaga, and those committed to it have a meeting place at Reclyco Bike-Café, a coffee shop and restaurant where the bicycle is the absolute protagonist. It's located in Málaga's old quarter, in the square known as Plaza de Camas. It has a complete calendar of cultural activities of an alternative type, a bicycle hire shop, and it also sells organic produce. You can't be much more hipster than that!

"‘Drunk-O-Rama"

This bar-coffee shop, in Calle Comedias in the city of Málaga, is a place where it's normal to see not only bearded hipsters, but also rockers. It doesn't have such a carefully-designed aesthetic, but this place is worth its weight in gold if what you're looking for is music, beer and a good atmosphere. What's more, on Sundays they put on an activity called Vermut-o-rama, an experiment that combines paella and a concert at reasonable prices.

"Craft Beers"

On the hipster planet, it's fundamental to do and make things yourself. Especially beer! In Málaga, there are now several bars offering artisanal or craft beers and a multitude of references, but today we're going to recommend one in particular: Craft Beers. This is a bar, located in the Plaza de la Merced, next to the house where Picasso was born, which offers artisanal and international beers. It has a good selection of beers on tap and over 600 bottled beers. It also has a shop where you can buy beer to take away.

"I-food"

Along with hipsters the so-called "food trucks" also appeared. These are mobile food stalls, but with a gourmet touch, carefully-prepared recipes and natural ingredients. In short, they have all the requisites to be popular with this urban tribe. We recommend I-Food, which you can find in one of the service stations in Benalmádena Costa.

"Lime & Lemon"

You can also find Lime & Lemon in Benalmádena, where you get excellent value for money, the premises are artfully decorated and there is a fundamental hipster touch: the mojitos are served in tarros (glass beer mugs).
