Businessmen, athletes, movie stars, artists ...  all of them have been seduced by this paradise. ## **Famous characters fascinated by the Costa del Sol** Some celebrities are true to their roots and maintain contact with **the land they were born in.** It is the case of the actor Antonio Banderas, who was born in Malaga and has now chosen the Costa del Sol for some of his residences. Specifically, the chalet "La Gaviota" in the upmarket area of **Los Monteros**, in Marbella, and an attic in the heart of Malaga. Julio Iglesias has an **idyllic farm** with Spanish firs that spans the municipalities of [Ojen](http://www.visitcostadelsol.com/towns-and-villages/ojen-p9921) and [Marbella](http://www.visitcostadelsol.com/towns-and-villages/marbella-p9851). David Bentley, the shining football star that  hung up his boots prematurely, fell **in love with the Costa del Sol** the first time he visited it, 18 years ago. Years later he decided to take root and acquire a residence in Alhaurin, besides opening the **restaurant La Sala** in [Puerto Banus](http://www.visitcostadelsol.com/things-to-do/puerto-deportivo-jose-banus-p14431), which today is meeting point of celebrities for different social events. Since the 60s, Marbella has boasted a **great power of attraction** over international movie stars and characters from the highest status from all over the world. In the 80s, King Fahd of Saudi Arabia built in **the Golden Mile of Marbella** a huge palace complex that has been frequently used since then by the Saudi Royal House. A spectacular replica of the White House on a privileged vantage point. Since then, many mansions have been built in this area. The Golden Mile is undoubtedly one of the **most exclusive residential areas** in Europe, full of dream mansions in an extraordinary landscape between the town of Marbella and Puerto Banus. [Benahavis](http://www.visitcostadelsol.com/towns-and-villages/benahavis-p9381) also has a housing estate in which luxury and fame are concentrated in a special place: **La Zagaleta**. An idyllic setting in which large fortunes and celebrities like Eva Longoria or Hugh Grant, have been spotted lately. But celebrities also are often seduced by local customs, such as the fascination that Easter caused in Chris Barron, singer of the legendary 90s group  'Spin Doctors'. The American artist is actually “throne man” of one of the brotherhoods of the Holy Week of Malaga. Ultimately, **on the Costa del Sol** you can find yourself surrounded by sophistication and uniqueness, as well as live experiences full of glamour.
