Azahara Muñoz is excited to be back in the competition after a year off due to pregnancy. Malaga’s golfer resurfaced in LGPA’s Dana Open Tour held in Ohio, USA, qualifying for the tournament. Here’s how her return has been.
Golfer Azahara Muñoz seems to have handled pregnancy very well. And not even a year since she gave birth to her son Lucas last September, the Sampedreña made the cut “with a lot of nerves,” thanks to a birdie on the 18th hole for a total of 69 strokes, coming back during the second round with more birdies to finish with a total of -1 and win two more rounds.

But her new role as a mum hasn't been the only big change in Azahara Muñoz's life in recent months. As for her professional career, the golfer took on Chilean star Joaco Niemann as her coach; the time has finally come to put into practice everything she has been working on over the last few months!
The Malaga-born player's goal is none other than to be part of the European team for the Solheim Cup, which will be played on the Finca Cortesin course in Costa del Sol from 18 to 23 September 2023. For the first time in the history of the tournament, the United States and Europe will meet in Spain, a milestone that will place the Costa del Sol in the sporting limelight.
Born in San Pedro de Alcántara in 1987, golfer Azahara Muñoz played in the American LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour. With an unstoppable career despite her youth, Muñoz was honoured in March 2013 in the Lady Golf Awards as the Best Spanish Professional Player. She won her first tournament as a professional at the 2009 Madrid Ladies Masters on the European Tour. Later, she achieved two more victories in the Women's Open de France integrated in the LET and two more in the American Women's Tour. In 2015, she participated for the third time in the Solheim Cup tournament, which she won in 2011 in Ireland and in 2013 in Colorado, a milestone never achieved by another Spanish player. In 2016, she also participated in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
