The province of Málaga serves excellent national and international food in its many eateries. Enjoy traditional or international food, fried fish, tapas or innovating cuisine, and match them with our wines.
There is a wide range of restaurants and bars for all tastes and budgets in the province of Málaga. There are tapas bars, bars offering traditional dishes or haute cuisine and seven Michelin-star restaurants. Most of them also have terraces where you can combine their culinary delights with the Costa del Sol's warm temperatures.
If you'd like to discover the authentic flavours of the province, there are dishes you really must try. Ajoblanco (a garlic and almond-based soup), Antequera porra (a kind of thick gazpacho, served cold) and the popular espeto de sardinas (sardines chargrilled on a cane skewer), typical of the Málaga coast and its traditional beach bars. During the winter months, be sure to try dishes such as migas (a fried breadcrumb dish), menestra a la rondeña (a vegetable stew typical of Ronda) or plato de los montes (a hearty mountain dish), all more typical of the inland areas of the province.
Each town or village gives you a chance to discover new flavours. If you travel in winter, we suggest you first have a look at our events calendar, as each town celebrates its own festivals related to its traditional cuisine and seasonal products. An ideal opportunity to discover new places and leave you with a good taste in your mouth at the same time.
