Which plants can you find into the Botanical Garden?

Walking around La Concepción Historical Botanical Garden is an experience every Costa del Sol's visitor must live. Trees from all over the world and plants that we have never seen before build a colourful paradise just few kilometres away from Málaga.

 A garden with history

Created in 1855 by the marquesses of Casa Loring, it hosts an huge outdoors tropical and subtropical flora's variety, coming from every corner around the world, for more than a century and a half. It was officially declared Historical Artistic Garden in 1943, and now is also recognized as Cultural Heritage.

The Botanical Garden and its 'Around the world in eighty trees'

We can find original collections from all around the world in the Botanical Garden. Exotic water plants and pre historical ones at the first section can be highlighted. Following our tour, we will find a greenhouse with carnivorous plants, where we can't miss the African plants' collection and the beauty of the Asiatic bamboos. In the North of this tour we can discover the famous 'Around the world in eighty trees', where it's possible to admire the most representative trees of the five continents and also those from Costa del Sol.

Not many changes since it was created

Since it was considered an ' historical artistic garden' in 1943, its 3.5 hectares have scarcely changed until nowadays. We can notice that by crossing along its iron bridge, which was built in the 19th century or watching its amazing Palace House, a mansion built in 1855 by the marquesses of Casa Loring, located at the top of a hill from where you have fantastic views, even of Málaga' Cathedral and over the sea. An uncountable heritage among which the Cypresses little house, the exedra or waterfall or the arbour can be highlighted.

A corner full of monumental species

many of the Botanical Garden's species are very ancient and its large size makes them to have an special treatment. Among the Ficus species of the town, we can highlight the Moreton Bay fig (ficus macrophylla), original from Australia and whose amazing roots will surprise you.
