The 10th of December marks a special event for sports and running fans on the Costa del Sol, when the 2017 Malaga Marathon will take place. Coinciding with the long weekend in December (Spanish Constitution anniversary), the streets of Malaga will become flooded with runners in order to welcome a new edition of the event.
The attractiveness of the route, combined with the enviable climate that the Costa del Sol’s capital enjoys all year round, brings athletes from all over Spain and Europe to visit the city in order to make the most of the unbeatable conditions for practising their favourite sport.
With almost three months until the race, there are already thousands of participants registered for the event during which they will take in one of the most spectacular routes of this type of competitions. For this new edition the figure is expected to reach 6,000 runners.
Route
The 2017 Zurich Malaga Marathon, the start and finish of which is the Paseo del Parque, opposite the Malaga City Hall, has a 42-kilometre-long route which will pass through the main points and emblematic parts of the city such as the Alameda Principal, Palmeral de las Sorpresas, Muelle Uno, the Pablo Ruiz Picasso promenade and the neighbourhood of El Palo. Over the last kilometres the runners will be able to take in the historic city centre, passing by the Roman Theatre, the Obispo Square and Calle Larios.
Registration
As the event is included in the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation calendar, anybody who wants to do so can participate in the run, both federation members and non-members, as long as they are over the age of 18.
The registration period will be open until the 1st of December, the price varying depending on how early the participant completes their registration. The rates are: until the 30th of September €55, until the 15th of November €65 and until the 1st of December €80. Participants who are not federation members will incur an additional cost of €5 on top of each of the rates.

Also, the event has all of the services necessary to ensure that participants can make the most of the experience. Physiotherapists, insurance, medical teams, cardioprotected spaces, refreshment posts along the event route and cloakrooms are but a few of the services available to each participant in the event.
