Festivals for all tastes: this is how the Costa del Sol sounds this summer

 Tags: Leisure

Artists of all styles and music for all tastes. The calendar of summer festivals and concerts on the Costa del Sol couldn’t be more appealing. Take note if you’re planning a holiday where you can enjoy the best bands and live music, because in Malaga you have plenty to choose from.

Indie and rock festivals

There are two unmissable festivals in the province of Malaga: the Ojeando Festival in Ojén and the Weekend Beach Festival in Torre del Mar. Although both festivals feature indie and rock groups, each has its own personality. On the one hand, Ojeando (30 June to 1 July) has a special charm, since the performances take place in the streets of this beautiful white village located in the Sierra de las Nieves. This year, bands such as Miss Caffeina and Airbag will be there, as well as iconic local bands. On the other hand, at Weekend Beach Festival (5-8 July) you can enjoy artists including Mago de Oz, Lori Meyers, Rosendo and La Habitación Roja performing right on the beach.

Electronic music on the beach

Also right on the beach, this time in Torremolinos, is the Los Álamos Beach Festival (from 13 to 16 July). This festival, which is dedicated to electronic music, will feature artists such as Nervo, Andrea Oliva, Borgore and Uner.

The incomparable setting of Sohail Castle

One of the places where the greatest number of artists will be gathered together this summer is Fuengirola. The city celebrates the Marenostrum Music Castle Park festival, the City of Fuengirola festival and the Fuengirola Pop Weekend (10 June to 6 August) where you can go to concerts by The Beach Boys, Sting, Jamie Cullum or La Oreja de Van Gogh. This festival’s setting couldn’t be more idyllic: Sohail Castle and the terraces surrounding it.

Music and a select environment in Marbella

The Starlite Festival (13 July to 26 August) is the most important event of the summer in Marbella. During more than a month, the Cantera de Nagüelles will become the stage for performances by artists including Elton John, Eros Ramazotti, Juan Magan, Carlos Vives, Ainhoa Arteta, Andrea Bocceli, Anastacia, Juan Luis Guerra and Ana Torroja. This festival’s events and activities go beyond the concerts: a spectacular gourmet zone, a space dedicated to cinema, a shopping area, parades and much more.

Music for all tastes in Malaga city

Malaga city has two important festivals of very different styles. One of them is Terral 2017, which takes place every summer in the Cervantes Theatre. This year, the festival aims to return to its roots, with artists including guitarist Vicente Amigo, Dulce Pontes from Portugal and James Rhodes from the UK. In a different style, the Mad Urban Fest, whose line-up is headed by Daddy Yankee, is held in the Cortijo de Torres Municipal Auditorium on 1 July.
