Bioparc Fuengirola: Respect for nature and preservation of species

 Tags: Leisure

Would you like to travel to such remote places as Madagascar, Equatorial Africa South-East Asia and the Indo-Pacific islands without leaving the province of Málaga? The Bioparc is located in Fuengirola, a new animal park model based on the respect for nature and the preservation of its species. Its design employs the ‘zoo-immersion’ concept, in which the animals live in an amazingly accurate recreation of their natural habitats. The whole complex is intended to teleport the visitor to the most remote places in the world. Will you join us?

Beginning

In 1998, a team of architects, builders, sculptors, painters and gardeners set to work creating the cutting-edge concept of ‘zoo-immersion’. Two years of hard work were necessary to transform this space and replace the old Fuengirola zoo bars with new rivers, cascades, caves, valleys, gardens and rocks. A real paradise!

Respect for animals and preservation of the species

Since 2010, this place was renamed Bioparc Fuengirola, its new name. Since that moment, the preservation of the tropical forests and its animal and plant species became its main objective.

With this change its philosophy and their animal preservation concepts which made this park a single one in Spain remain and are reinforced more than ever. Today the park works with the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) on several preservation projects, as the one dedicated to Madagascar fauna, such as the one of breeding of endangered species, as the pygmy hippo, coast gorillas, the Borneo orangutan or the lemurs.

So if you have interest for knowing animal species from all the world in an accurate recreation of their natural habitats, to visit this space in Fuengirola is a must!
